  REVIEW:

If you ever wanted to be in a relatively exclusive club with Brad Pitt, then guess what!  The Break-Up provides moviegoers with the unique opportunity to join the “I’ve seen Jennifer Aniston’s bare butt” club!

The Break-Up is the much anticipated movie where it is rumored that Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston met and fell in love… in real life that is.  Hopefully, this movie does not represent their real relationship, or they are in big trouble.  The movie begins with the couple very happy and in love.  One night, Gary (Vince Vaughn) falls short of Brooke’s (Jennifer Aniston) expectations and she breaks up with him.  Trouble is, they live together and both refuse to move out of their condo.  Brooke is a bit surprised that Gary took the break-up so well and is willing to move on.  She’s torn between trying to get him back and trying to stand her ground and get him to see the error of his ways.  In the meantime, Gary is consumed with making living in the condo miserable so she will move out and completely misses her attempts to let him back in her life.  As he ramps up his “make life miserable” tactics, Brooke pulls out all the stops to get his attention.  She tries everything from making him jealous to prancing around the condo stark naked.  Just as he finally realizes she wants him back, she looses the ambition to try to make it work.  His new found perspective may be too little, too late…maybe.

Yes, Jennifer Aniston is adorable, and Vince Vaughn is hilarious; so, both offer strong appeal and great fun.  But, despite their apparent real life romance, their chemistry in The Break-Up is odd.  This in the midst of the movie’s somewhat tragic and slightly flawed storyline ensures their transition from loving couple to bitter enemies is neither realistic nor genuine.  There are definitely some cute scenes and some good laughs.  However, unlike War of The Roses where the couple hated each other so much that their mutual self-destruction was fun to watch, either the story is too sad or the characters too unlikable in this one for you to enjoy it as much as you should.  Big fans of the two will want to see it, but most will be a little disappointed in the end.

  MOVIE NIGHT TRAFFIC LIGHT:

On the Movie Night Traffic Light on a scale of GREEN meaning “Go – it’s a must see”, YELLOW meaning “Caution – it’s okay” and RED meaning “No - stop don’t do it."

We rate The Break-Up YELLOW.  Caution – this is another, not great movie from Jennifer.
